Advanced Lessons in Range Combat // Eveline + Clint
The range in the Mansion wasn’t as impressive as the ranges at SHIELD HQ, but they were pretty incredible. Clint had spent a happy few days exploring it completely, and as a result he knew his way around it blindfolded. It was (rather stereotypically, he would admit) one of the places he spent most of his time in - but he doubted anyone would blame him for that. As well as an expansive range of long-range weapons, it boasted various types of targets and a built-in function allowing you to manipulate the environment.
In short, it was a sniper’s dream range.
Clint was already smiling by the time he reached the doors with Eveline and tapped in the code to open them. Shooting was his passion, and he always enjoyed his training sessions. He was certain that this one, with Evie, would be no different.
“This,” he said, spreading his arms in a melodramatic welcome gesture as the doors swung open, “Is where the magic happens.”

A record? -tilts her head to the side- What’s that?
It took me a long while to figure out how to ignore some while listening for others… but if I ignore certain sounds sometimes I can’t hear when something is wrong… it makes me very vulnerable. I have to keep some sounds on all the time… just to be alert.
-smiles- Then, let’s go.
A record? Uh, it’s… hard to explain -laughs- It’s when you’re the best at something. High score, fastest run, first place, that sort of thing.
God, how stressful. I’m like that on missions, I have to keep completely alert at all times, but that’s usually only for a few hours, days at the most. It must be tiring to keep it up constantly.
[text] Oh… you never know. There might just be someone who is.
[text] Getting settled back in alright?
<text> Well, if they are, they’re keeping very quiet about it.
<text> I’m fine, a little swept away by how chaotic this place gets whenever I leave, but otherwise, everything’s good.
“Oh, that’s good. I usually end up trying to talk to people when they’re all busy and working on being annoyed.” She rolled her eyes, taking a step back after dropping her hand. “Uhm… ‘Bout three weeks? Maybe a little over. I’ve not really been wandering about that much though.” Molly rubbed the back of her neck, shrugging lightly.
Clint snorted quietly in amusement, running a hand through his hair. “Yeah, people round here can be pretty snappy when they’re stressed. Which is most of the time, really, considering what they do.” He started walking towards the kitchen, mimicing her shrug. “I didn’t leave my room for the first two months after SHIELD picked me up, except for training sessions and food. And I was a lot older than you.”

He laughed. “You and I will have to go traveling sometime,” he said, leaning back against the counter. “We’ll have to see how good all the food in the world really is!”
“Sign me right up,” Clint grinned, nodding enthuiastically. He loved to travel - properly travel, not just jet to safe house for an op. “But, uh,” he paused, pulling a face. “You can be the one to ask Fury for holiday leave.”
“Snapping my neck would block the cartoid artery and dead.” Barney said, rolling his eyes. Basic biology. “Unless I’m incredibly lucky. And I’m not.”
“No,” Clint agreed, raising an eyebrow. He wasn’t an idiot, he understood the biology of the neck - and he knew a lot about fighting dirty, enough to know how to snap a neck without affecting any major blood vessels. ”But I was trained in hand-to-hand combat by the Black Widow. I know how to paralyse a man without killing him.”
[smiles lopsidedly] They’re quite troublesome, but I suppose that’s the attraction where you’re concerned.
You know I only say such horrid things because I adore you so. I have to make sure that there’s an equal amount of compliments and insults, otherwise you’d simply grow too vain.
-grins- All the best things cause chaos when done well.
I guess there’s only space for one overgrown ego in any relationship, and I just can’t compete with yours, really. Aren’t I lucky to have you to ground me?
